Folk Traditions, Inc. is a not-for-profit, tax-exempt organization 501(c)(3) formed in 1981.  The corporation was formed to aid and encourage cultural, scientific, educational and artistic enrichment of the general public by producing, sponsoring and distributing films, photography, videotapes, live performance and other forms of media and the performing arts concerned with the humanities, arts, and sciences as they relate to social and public interest issues of the past and present.  

Folk Traditions, Inc. has been the recipient of numerous grants from organizations such as the National Endowment for the Humanities, the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York State Council for the Arts, as well as from other private and public foundations.  

It has recently received funding to develop projects that deal with systemic injustices in our society.
